secondly, everything about this pictured has been painted in order to deceive you.
thirdly, the man who did this - and did many others of this sort of deceiving scenes - ironically, died falling in a deep dried-up well somewhere in the south of france. his wife - who had held his hand tight while he was dangling above the abyss, and had had to let go because she had suddenly felt the weight of her husband to have increased to an impossible degree - eventually cried out in the well. however, no deep sound came back to her. when the police arrived at the scene, she told them what had happened and she told them about that very undeep echo that had come back to her when she had called out 'GEORGE!'. The policemen tried and were surprised to hear that same undeep echo. That's where the reporters got the idea for their article title: 'George Rousse sucked up by his own deceiving abyss.'
Fourthly, Rousse's wife, in an amazing act of understanding of the artistic and human implications of George's fall and of the way it was commented upon in the press the day after, demanded the authorities fill in the well with cement and bury her husband's body in it. And so did they.
And finally, nobody seems to have had any questions concerning the possibility of murder on the part of George's wife. Apparently there have been witnesses. But, if there were witnesses on the scene, why haven't they held out their hands to help dangling George before he fell into his own abyss?
